The city of Ruse is situated on the highest right bank of the Danube river, with population of  about 180 000 people. This is one of the biggest cities in Bulgaria – an important cultural, commercial and industrial center. Since the 1990s the citizens occasionally organize protests against industrial and air pollution. Data for the year 2017 reveal that fine dust particles polluted the air during 72 days (article in Monitor newspaper, 7.03.2018).[1]According to the Regional inspectorate on environment and waters only the indicators laid down in European and Bulgarian legislation are being monitored. No specific pollutants from industries are monitored.[2] In 2016 was established the initiative Green Rousse.[3] One of the aims is monitoring the flow of information and to provide reliable data. # Green Rousse also chosed the task of collecting reliable information about the major air pollution in the city and placing it in a special "Register".In the first four months of July to October 2016, 45 large air pollution were recorded, covering almost all of the city's neighborhoods. The initiative declares to support the justified claims of the citizens for clean air for the city.   [1]http://www.monitor.bg/a/view/62710-72-%D0%B4%D0%BD%D0%B8-%D0%B2%D1%8A%D0%B7%D0%B4%D1%83%D1%85%D1%8A%D1%82-%D0%B2-%D0%A0%D1%83%D1%81%D0%B5-%D1%81-%D1%84%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B8-%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%B0%D1%85%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B8-%D1%87%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%82%D0%B8%D1%86%D0%B8   [2] Ibid.
