Today we will write about Prirazlommoye field. It is located North of Russia near the Varandey.
Oil was discovered in 1989 approximatley 19 meters underneath the sea level.
5 million tons of oil is pumped every year by this field.
It had some oil spills:
15.11.2011 it spilled some oil.
After the spill the oil company gathered to fix the mistakes that caused the oil spill.
24.8.2012 it was closed down, because they did not want to kill the entire Arctic for oil.
18.9.2013 was the day they started to pump oil again.
They build the safety rinfg that would prevent any oil from escaping if it would come to another spill.
The ring was not as sucessful as they hoped.
In 2014 they started to export the oil again.
Sea around the oil field will be contaminated for another 100 years because of the constant leak of oil that is constantly happening at the platform and down at the dig site.
Despise all of the upgrades that were done to the platform, which cost 1,2B USD, there is still a large possibility of another oil spill because of the pumping depth.
A lot of people are speculating that at the dig site there is still oil leak, which spills oil all over the ocean floor.
