The subject of this theme is or are the negative impacts of it on Estonian land, culture and community. It would be advisable to plan the proposed railway tracks in line with the existing railway tracks and other linear infrastructural objects, as it has been previously done in the co-operation of VIA Baltica transport corridor and other existing roadways in the Baltic States. Instead of that the new crossing line would be endangering the local farms, artefacts, Natura2000 areas etc.
The export industry have expressed their interest in principle, but in practical terms it could prove difficult to convince freight forwarders to shift the transports to Rail Baltica as the present routes are well established and previous investments in infrastructure, in dedicated slots, in handling equipment, in terminals on the continent guarantee a service level which is accepted by both the customers and the export industry.
Routing the export goods via Tallinn requires a crossing of the Gulf of Finland which may add an extra loading procedure. The previously said makes the total management ridiculously unproductive and costly. -
